Merry Christmas!

I know this is a little late, but I thought this was worth it. Near the end of The Grand Alliance by WSC, Churchill gives a great Christmas address from the White House balcony in 1941. Here is the end of it:

"Let the children have their night of fun and laughter. Let the gifts or Father Christmas delight their play. Let us grown-ups share to the fill in their unstinted pleasures before we turn again to the stern task and the formidable years that lie before us, resolved that, by our sacrifice and daring, there same children shall not be robbed of their inheritance or denied their right to live in a free and decent world.

And so, in God's mercy, a happy Christmas to you all."

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Pearl Harbour Day

I just finished reading The Grand Alliance - third of Churchill's six volume work called "The Second World War." I thought his recording of his thoughts on Dec. 7, 1941 after he heard the news of Pear Harbour was fitting for today:

"No American will think it wrong of me if I proclaim that to have the United States on our side was to me the greatest joy. I could not foretell the course of events. I do not pretend to have measured accurately the martial might of Japan, but now at this very moment I knew the United States was in the war, up to the neck and in to the death. So we had won after all! Yes, after Dunkirk; after the fall of France; after the horrible episode of Oran; after the threat of invasion, when, apart from the Air and the Navy, we were an almost unarmed people; after the deadly struggle of the U-boat war - the first Battle of the Atlantic, gained by a hand's-breadth; after seventeen months of lonely fighting and nineteen months of my responsibility in dire distress, we had won the war. England would live; Britain would live; the Commonwealth of Nations and the Empire would live. How long the war would last or in what fashion it would end, no man could tell, nor did I at this moment care. Once again in our ling Island history we should emerge safe and victorious. We should not be wiped out. Our history would not come to an end. We might not even have to die as individuals. Hitler's fate was sealed. Mussolini's fate was sealed. As for the Japanese, they would be ground to powder. All the rest was merely the proper application of overwhelming force. The British Empire, the Soviet Union, and now the United States, bound together with every scrap of their life and strength, were, according to my lights, twice or even thrice the force of their antagonists. No doubt it would take a long time. I expected terrible forfeits in the East; but all this would be merely a passing phase. United we could subdue everybody else in the world. Many disasters, immeasurable cost and tribulation lay ahead, but there was no more doubt about the end.

Silly people - and there were many, not only in enemy countries - might discount the force of the United States. Some said they were soft, others that they would never be united. They would fool around at a distance. They would never come to grips. They would never stand blood-letting. Their democracy and system of recurrent elections would paralyze their war effort. They would be a vague blur on the horizon to friend or foe. New we should see the weakness of this numerous but remote, wealthy, and talkative people. But I had studied the American Civil War, fought out to the last desperate inch. American blood flowed in my veins. I thought of a remark which Edward Grey had made to me more than thirty years before - that the United States is like 'a gigantic boiler. Once the fire is lighted under it there is no limit to the power it can generate.' Being saturated and satiated with emotion and sensation, I went to bed and slept the sleep of the saved and thankful."

Forever grateful for those who died so we could be free, I remain sincerely yours,

Michael

H2O

You know, I was thinking as I was drinking water like a camel....what does water taste like? Because, have ever noticed that when you are very tired, that water is the best tasting thing on this earth? But if you're rested and relaxed it doesn't taste like...anything? Why is that?

Okay, so here's the point of this post: What do you think water tastes like? Secondly: Why does does it taste better sometimes than other times?

toodles.

Commentator Goof-Ups!

In honor of the World Series, I want to post on "Commentator Goof-Ups." The thing is, if you're a major league announcer, you need to be able to demonstate verbally the amazing diving catches and the split-second decision making of a plate umpire. But....then again, if you are Jerry Coleman...you don't have to do any of those. You can speak without thinking. Jerry Coleman has been the San Diego Padres radio announcer since 1972. They call his miscues, a "Classic Colemanism." Here are some of his goof-ups:

"Winfield goes back to the wall. He hits his head on the wall and it rolls off! It's rolling all the way back to second base! This is a terrible thing for the Padres!"

"Johnny Grubb slides into second with a standup double."

"That's the fourth extra base hit for the Padres...two doubles and a triple."

"Last night's homer was Willie Stargell's 399th career home run, leaving him on shy of 500."

"The first pitch to Tucker Ashford is grounded into left field. No, wait a minute. It's ball one. Low and outside."

"That's Hendrick's 19th home run. One more and he reaches double figures."

"Reggie Smith of the Dodgers and Gary Matthews of the homers hit Braves in that game."

"They throw Winfield out at second, but he's safe."

And some more just for kicks. These are by Ralph Kiner, the New York Met's announcer:

"The Hall of Fame ceremonies are on the 31st and 32nd of July."

"On Father's Day, we again wish you all a happy birthday."

"If Casey Stengel were alive today, he'd be rolling in his grave."

And I'll leave you with the good ol' Yogi Berra.

"You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six."

Gmail passes 4GB of free space

I think our first family computer had 32MB.

Question: Do they really have that much space for each account filed, or are they betting you will not use all of it?

Whatcha Readin'?

So, read any good books lately? If so, share it with us. Give us the title, page number you're on, and the last sentence you read. The next requirements are optional: copyright date, publishing date, author, birthdate of the author and founder of the publishing company and anything else you can tell us about your book. Relax. These are optional.

Same knife?

Okay, here's the scenario...it's a beautiful day out and you feel like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. So you get out the wheat bread (white, multi grain, whatever you prefer), and the peanut butter and jelly. So here's the actual reason for this post...do you get out two different knives, one for the peanut butter and one for the jelly? Or do you use the same knife?

Just to spice up this here blog: Square Dancing Tips

Okay, this blog has been kinda boring lately...mostly on my part because half of the six nuts have been out of town. So I just thought I'd spice up this place. So, here are some tips on Square Dancing. I've actually square danced a time of two in my life. Needless to say, that's why I play football. (Okay, Google is an amazing thing. If any of you think that I actually can give some square dancing tips...you got another thing comin'. So, I'm just gonna go on record saying that I have no idea what they are talking about below.)

Tip #1: Step on the beat of the music

Though we are much different than your average kind of dancing - square dancers still strive to take one step on each downbeat of the music. Calls have a specific "timing". That means there is "x" number of beats/steps to complete a call. If you take one step per beat you will find that you will have an easier time in accomplishing each call.

Tip #2: Keep the square smaller

It's easy for a square to get out of control. If you step on the beat of the music and don¹t take long lunging steps, you will automatically keep your square smaller but there are other things that are helpful. When promenading home the men should "spiral" inward so that their elbows are almost touching. This is a great help to the ladies as they must cover more distance during a promenade.

Tip #3: Breathe with the square.

When "Heads Promenade" or there is any movement where two couples have to travel around the outside, the other two couples should move in so that the outside couples do not have as far to travel. Just be sure to" breathe out" if that couple has to come into the center of the square.

Tip #4: Keep moving

There are times when some couples are inactive and it is easier for the inactive couples to get started again if they are not standing totally still. Small little steps in place, or a small (very small) step forward and back, anything to keep the beat of the music will help you get started easier when it's again your turn to be active.

So there you go...after reading this, ya'll should be better square dancers. As for me...I'll stick with football.

Photos...

Ok ok... here are some pictures from the photo shoot way back in the olde days at the beginning of June:

This is a monk-chuck. You can even see his hand blurring as he excitedly waves to me.

This gent seemed to have no end of water coming out of his boot...

The above creature was dumb enough to let me get this close to him.

This is a water wheel (just in case you were wondering).

This is Stanley. He was going for $900. This was for my "soft" picture.

This guy is working on getting his perspectives straight.

Sunday Thank You Party

On Sunday, all The Six Nuts, and their families, the Storrie family, Chartier family, and Langemann family, all converged on the Morgan's home and had a "Thank You" Party. T'was fun. There was amazingly good food, games of badminton, lil' spurts of basketball here and there, interesting political conversations, hilarious slideshows, and of course, football. [There was even some strange stories being told. =)] And, by golly, the Grads&Bros (the name soon to change) got to sing again and boy, were they flawless! (He-He! They were flawless, counting me out.)

The reason for the party was for all the people who had helped with Jerry's, Jeorge's, and my graduation ceremony and party. It was definetly a team effort and we are incredibly grateful to everybody for there servant's heart. It could not have been done without everybody's help and we thank you for it!

Photo Shoot!

How do, folks!

I'm here at the YMCA of Estes Park with some friends on a way cool photo shoot. Among the attendants are Ima, Yum-Yum, Olde Pat, and Larry. From about 11 o'clock to about 12:30, we tromped the streets of down town Estes Park. Then we ate lunch and climbed up 1.7 miles to Gem Lake. Shortly after arrival at that place, it started to rain. :'( But then it stopped. :) But by the time it stopped, we were a ways back down the trail. :'( But I think I got some good pictures. :) Ha HA! I am almost done downloading my photos. Anyway, I had/am having a great time and shall maybe post some of my pictures here. 82 more pictures to go 17:44:22 . 60 more to go 17:45:16. It might be a bit more. There are some elk in with their antlers still in velvet just outside the building I'm in. I took some pictures of them. Maybe they will be good. :) Maybe they will be bad. :'( You never know. :| 32 more to go 17:46:40. 20 more to go 17:47:50. 10 more 17:48:20. NO MORE!!!!!!! 17:49:08.

Ok, folks!!

Have a jolly good one!!

Oreos or M&M's?

I had this little debate going on in Malaysia and Singapore with a friend. I ordered an M&M "McFlurry" and she ordered an Oreo "McFlurry" and thus the debate began. So I thought I just might as well ask you all...which one would you prefer? Oreo or M&M?

Toodles,

Bub

By the way, she is a very good debater. I quickly got convinced. I'll take Oreo. M&M's are too hard in ice cream. Might break a tooth.

And um....uh....I think I was going to say something else...uh....

OH YES! Thought ya'll might be interested in this (Who wouldn't?):

I think Albertsons has a sale on canned beans right now that goes something like this:
"3 for $0.88"

A lil' bit more of snakes and snails and puppy dog tails...

I thought I would just give you all (lady folks, specifically) just a tid-bit of how we guys tick. Okay, last time I talked about this I talked about the ever-so-lovely grass stain. Today, I'll talk about pain. Why is that men go and do stuff with no care in the world, are extremely sore afterwards and think it's wonderful? Take me for istance, I played in a tackle football game yesterday. Today, as I'm writing this, I have a pounding head-ache, can't lift my arms, hurts to go down stairs, and hurts to do just basically everthing else. Why is that? Well, I don't rightfully know. I would think it is because we know how much fun we had in getting the pain...and it is completely worth it. Now is it worth it to be paralyzed, or some other tramatic event, for the rest of your life? No way. But it is worth the little aches and bruises. That just comes with the territory.

So, I definetly still have a lot to learn about my fellow male's. But just thought I would take you on a journey of what keeps me awake at night.

Toodles,
Bub

Living History Day

April 27th. At the SDA Arvada church (same place that Good Shepherd meets). The morning session starts at 9:00AM to 12:00PM and the evening at 1:00PM to 4:00PM. This is a chance to see some of us in really weird costumes, and talk really strange, etc. It's going to be interesting.

Speaking of digging...

I have a question. I've talked about it with the six nuts and it's quite an interesting topic. Ok, here it is: Imagine that the earth is dirt all the way through, if you dug a hole straight through and came out the other side and then let go, would you be floating up or falling down?

It's just one of those crazy thoughts, you know?

Posts? What posts?

It has recently been brought to my attention that there has been some complaints about the number of posts from the "other" three nuts. Well, as one of those nuts, I am actually POSTING to settle the matter. The reason is...............................................well, what do you think is the reason?

Thank you and have a great day.

Gus

P.S. This might be my last post for the next, oh say, month or so. Maybe! It might be longer. We'll never know. You'll just have to wait and see. Maybe! So, consider yourself lucky. Until my next post....we'll see you later.

Its the END!

Snakes and Snails and Puppy-dog Tails...

I’ve been thinking lately, after some rather recent events, about the difference between guys and girls. Such as, why is it that when a girl gets a grass stain it is considered a disease and when a guy gets a grass stain, he shows it off as a trophy. Girls see it as a bother and guys want to know how they got it such a deep color green. Another thing…bruises? When a girl gets a bruise she tries to hide it with whatever she has, but when a guy gets a bruise, he tries to show it with whatever he has. Girls comfort one another when one gets a bruise but when a guy gets a bruise, they say, “That’s awesome! How’d you get that?!”, and the bruise-ee goes into his glorious story of how he got tackled by a 6 foot 4, 256 lbs. sack of muscles. Why is that? I understand that God made us different for a reason and for that I am very thankful. Guys add brawn into the world and girls add grace and intelligence. (Admit it, fellas.) If you look at it, I'm glad God's in control.

I've just let my mind wander lately and I still haven't gotten it back.

Bub

By the way, grass stains do come off. Th-weet, huh?

Dodge Viper or 2007 Mustang by Giugiaro

This is Bub. As you probably know, I have a blog called "Some Lil' Guy's Blog." There's a poll about which is better: Dodge Viper or Ford Mustang. I have pictures and everything. The whole sha-bang. If you want, go and vote. I'm not here to tell you which one to vote for, (go mustang) ahem, I mean, yeah, vote for whichever one.

Home School Day at the Capitol

Hey there,

Today all Six Nuts attended Home School Day at the Capitol. We had a great time (at least I did). My highlight of the day was taking some 375+ pictures that are going to take forever to go through. But I already have one order for a CD of them... those poor folks don't know what they're asking for. I'll see if I can post some of them on here soon (my camera battery just died, so it will take a little bit).

Anyhow, I thought I'd just let you know what was juicy for me today and I hope that you shall comment and tell us all what was juicy for you!

Sincerely,

Jeorge

I was pondering this earlier today, and I thought I'd ask what you thought.

Making this World Happier, One Wave at a Time!

I've had a campaign that's been put on hold through the winter that I call, "Making This World Happier, One Wave at a Time!" Now here's what you gotta do: Once you see a car driving by, you lift up your arm and hand and wave vigorously...but not to vigorously. We wouldn't want you to pull something. My reason for this is in Texas, everybody waves at each other. Now I don't know if Texas is the happiest place on the earth but I know of some former-Texans that miss that part about it. When you're in the car and you drive by somebody, all you have to do is just lift you hand in a simple wave. When you're on the street playing football or the like, when somebody drives by, wave at 'em. (Forget this elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, business. Just wave.) My lawyer will not let me sleep if I don't put this in there: Use discretion of who you wave to. I know I have taken it upon myself to make this world a better place to live, but I still understand that this is a weird world, filled with weird people. So just be carefull. As for myself, I am gonna try my best to make this world a happier place for our children and our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren and our great-great-grand children and our great-great-great...you get the picture.

So go ahead...Wave! Who's with me?

Stay out of trouble,
Bub

Happy Easter

Hello!

Today the Six Nuts and some other friends had an Easter Celebration at which we had a Great Time and I took some pictures. So, without Further Ado, I shall go ahead and explain the above pictures from Top to Bottom.

1. This is Bub, expounding to those who will listen the great knowledge held within the pages of this book (1776)

2. This is Bub posing for me.

3. This is Bub showing off his cool welt he got when Birdman (a.k.a. Tweety) snapped a rubber band on his hand.

4. This is Frankie.

5. This is the six nuts (and some others) trying our hand at hand bells...

6. And finally, a very, very long board game called Axis and Allies. I mean it took a long time to play.

Thats all for now, let me know what you think!

Sincerely,

Jeorge

Completely Oblivious

Well, I have a blog now, thanks to my wonderful fellow nuts. Great buddies. There I was, playing an inocent game with other friends (not that this matters any, I'm just trying to get you readers on my side) completely oblivious to the conspiracy around me when my great buddies up and start a blog for me. Just like great buddies, they give me added responsibility. Great buddies of mine, aren't they? Well, I guess I shouldn't be too hard on them, seeing as how they are a couple of nuts. More than a couple. Anyway, I am fulfilling my duty and posting on my blog. So, please enjoy this website and remember, always keep an eye (or two) on your great buddies.

Later,

Frankie

To be serious, or not to be serious. (Sigh) That is the question.

What up, all? After reviewing the last three posts of my fellow nuts, I am happy to reassure you, as the reader, that I will be the only one on this blog with some sort of sense and seriousness. Feel free to ponder our posts, and if need be, take some sort of comfort in the seriousness from me.

In all seriousness,

My Debut

Hello folks! This is my debut, so I'm feeling pretty special. This is what I have to say to you: "Speak softly, carry a hockey stick, and you will go far." But it also helps to have ice skates. So maybe this would be better: "Speak softly, carry a hockey stick, wear your ice skates, and you will go far." Jolly good eh? Anyway, let me know what you think - and whether or not you think the hockey skates should be included.

Ever So Sincerely,

Jeorge

The Six Nuts

Well, I must say that I am quite honored to be part of such a prestigous group like "The Six Nuts." But I must ask, who came up with "The Six Nuts"? I mean, if I thought long and hard about it, it might just hurt my feelings being refered to as a nut. I mean, whatever happened about caring for other's self-esteem. OK, maybe I helped come up the idea, but that is so not the point here. We are talking about a group of six fellas, who are quite quirky, especially when you get them all together......late at night....playing "Apples to Apples"...yeah, yeah, we're The Six Nuts. That's us. Self-esteem aside, this is the blog for The Six Nuts. I hope you enjoy.

Stay out of trouble,

Bub

Talk about a great thinker...

...Thats me. Aren't I humble. This is a awesome idea. All six of us will be posting here. Please leave your comments with a name.

Have Fun,
